Here's how it works: For every order we receive, a formula is used to calculate the estimated shipping emissions. Based on those estimates, a portion of our revenue goes to carbon removal companies that have been vetted by scientists from Carbon Direct. Those companies use that money to remove however much carbon our shipments created. Any extra funds go toward the further development of carbon removal technologies.

Grassroots Carbon’s carbon credit approach helps ranchers modify land management practices to improve soil and ecological health, which captures and stores more carbon in soil. Your contributions have helped Grassroots Carbon attract new ranchers and credit buyers, and scale up to the point where it has started measuring soil carbon and issuing payments to ranchers for adopting regenerative ranching practices.

The ocean's biological carbon pump is one of the world's most powerful carbon removal system. It moves 2 billion tons of carbon from the fast to slow cycle every year. Running Tide grows kelp and sinks it to the bottom of the ocean where the embodied CO₂ is stored for the long term.
